Research Recruitment

Dr. John Ureda, Chair

Address recruitment issues (barriers, access, representation) in all cancer research studies with particular focus on clinical trials
Create culturally appropriate methods (brochures, pamphlets, television ads, etc.) to increase minority awareness and participation in cancer research (clinical trials)

Tissue Bank
Dr. Bill Butler, Dr. Buckhaults, Camille Washowich

Establish a statewide accessible tissue bank for cancer research
Develop methods that will enable tissue to be shared across the state for use in approved protocols. Ensure “link-ability” of all data across various sources.

Prostate Cancer
Dr. John Ureda, Chair

Brings together the various individuals, organizations and institutions currently engaged in research, education, training, planning and patient and family care relevant to prostate cancer in South Carolina.
Convenes exchange to create a prostate cancer network for information, coordinating, expanding and disseminating programmatic activities and planning and promoting services that address the prevention, early detection, prompt and appropriate treatment and support of patients and their families for all South Carolinians
